22. Heritage Elm

When the city had to cut down the 100-year-old Elm trees from Downtown City Plaza the Arts commission suggested that they save some of the wood from those trees with the idea of doing a future art project that became the Heritage film project and Owen Gabbert was hired to make these sculptures which are copper and Elmwood the copper is a connector to all the copper that is in Downtown Plaza and then the copper is wrapped around actual Elmwood from those trees so it really gives a nice connection to the history of the closet it's sort of subtle but it is a wonderful way to remind everyone that those trees stood for over 100 Years and we're enjoyed by hundreds of Chicoans for all those years.
